I have not been at this blogging game for very long. I watch my site stats like a hawk, and go giddy with each tiny bump in visits. The first first jump I got was when I participated in a ProBlogger.net group writing project, the Top 5 - Group Writing Project. My contribution was, The Top 5 Things All Diets Have In Common. Previous to that post my site got around 200 hits a day. On the day that post was included on the ProBlogger site I got 1019 hits. Woot! After that my average went up to about 800 a day.
Then, on July 16th, I posted a commentary on another bloggers post, Living Life the Easier Way. A commentary post is where you make a follow up to something another blogger wrote that moved you to post. In this case it was 10 virtually instant ways to improve your life by Leo over at ZenHabits.net. In the following three days I got 35,000 hits!! My daily average for this month is now 3,391.
Wow! Most of that is due to the number of good ratings I got on StumbleUpon.com.
To any blogger who has been around these stats are laughably low. But, to a new blogger with his first mini-viral-post experience they go a loooong way! Thank you, too all the people who read that post, and poked around the rest of my site. Truly, I appreciate your time. I hope to keep making interesting entries, and would love to hear from any of you. This type of thing is what makes blogging worth it, and will keep me excited about the whole prospect for quite some time, I am sure.

I experienced something very similar yesterday. I hit a new record of 2300 visitor in one day. Hopefully it will generate some returning visitors. It is a great feeling when you know you’ve hit something right.
Yes, it’s a very validating experience. Congrats on the spike! I hope it keeps rolling for you.
Good luck with the blog. It’s great when so many people come to see your blog. Just don’t get addicted to the stats!
I hear you Tejvan, thanks! I do admit to having gotten addicted to checking the stats for a while, but I seem to be past that.
Cheers!
